MIDI

What it is, how we use it
Here is another demo, real-time playing of a Hammond organ with a previously created and arranged MIDI orchestral background, this time a polka by Eric Larson. Notice in places the switching back and forth between Hammond and MIDI, the hand-played drum track and the realism of the trumpet solo in the bridge. This song appears here in its entirety.
This recording shows yet another example of the things that are possible with MIDI. Traditional Hammond organs do not have MIDI and therefore that has to be played live in real time, but the MIDI track was created first. In this instance, playing the Hammond would be the same as playing in a band as far as the playing approach is concerned. The only difference is that in this case, the "band" was created by adding a number of MIDI tracks together, each representing one particular instrument.
